What a hypocrite. He wants to punish speculators for speculating that there isn't going to be any more oil production because of current policies. He then speculates that putting more oil into the market artificially would drop the price of oil by $50 per barrel.
So he gets to speculate on a market that the government controls and that's OK? If the private sector did this, we would throw them in jail. Newt wants to do this, and it is legit?
He has joined the Libs on this one. Why Conservatives are following this guy is beyond my imagination. This is anything but liberty.
Sorry about my harshness, but when he tried to cozy up to Hillary on this topic, he totally lost me. This video only confirms to me he will say anything to get the Media and the Left to like him.
What is hypocritical about punishing those who are distorting the market? It's not inherently liberal to sell off the a portion of the strategic reserve. In what way is that limiting liberty?
Speculators are not attempting to distort the market. They are speculating. If they thought the price would go down, they would speculate so. If they are wrong, they lose money too.
Remember Trading Places with Dan Aakroyd and Eddie Murphy. Controlling and manipulating the market in the fashion they did was illegal. This is the precise thing Newt wants to do to Speculators. It's now ok because the government does it?
Punishing Speculators won't make a drop of oil. Yet his video is supposedly about how to get the price of oil down.
What is also hypocritical is the idea that we must join the Liberal Democrat bandwagon and go after their new evil scapegoat. Newt is accepting the Liberal premise in order to get them to like him. It hasn't worked yet. The reason is simple. They hate the Right. They seek to defeat the Right. Yet Newt is treating them like they want to treat Terrorists. Yet they are treating us like Bush is treating the Terrorists.
I realize I am sounding mean towards Newt, but I have been noticing this about him for a long time. The Political Left must be defeated, not joined.
