Piper on Obama and Abortion

John Piper is one of my favorite preacher-theologians. Below is an excerpt from his sermon this past Sunday.

The part about this video that really bugs me is when he said that he rejoiced when Obama was elected. This is obviously connected to the racism that he had witnessed growing up.

Yet here is the very problem. First he rejoiced that a black man was President. He wept at something that could easily have happened years ago. Alan Keys would make a great President. But again, Piper is excited simply because a black man is President.

Which leads to another point. Obama was an evil man before he was elected. So Piper rejoiced over an evil black man being President simply because he was black.

Piper acted in a racist fashion. He did not and does not judge on the content of the character of the man but on his skin color. Therefore the very thing he is rejoicing over is the very thing he wishes to see done away with...racism.

This is all nothing more than Shelby Steele's "White Guilt" that Rush has pointed out.
